Product Details
Pyromaze is an insecticide containing Pymetrozine 50% WG. A selective, systemic insecticide developed specifically for sap-sucking Hemiptera (planthoppers, aphids, whiteflies); it works by an anti-feedant mechanism rather than direct nerve poisoning, and is best known in India for brown planthopper control in rice.
Technical Details
- Composition: Pymetrozine 50% WG
- Formulation: Water Dispersible Granules (WG)
- Mode of action: Pyridine azomethine derivative; selectively disrupts chordotonal organ function in sucking pests, causing them to stop feeding (stylet withdrawal) rather than acting on AChE or nAChR (IRAC Group 9B)
Features & Benefits
- Selective to sucking pests, sparing many beneficial/predatory insects.
- Systemic and translaminar movement in the plant.
- Fast cessation of feeding (within hours) even before pest mortality.
- Different mode of action from neonicotinoids/organophosphates, useful in resistance management.
Dosage & Application
- Recommended crops: Paddy (rice)
- Target pests: Brown planthopper (BPH)
- Dosage: Paddy: approx. 120 g/acre (converted from CIBRC-registered 300 g formulation/ha; PHI 19 days)
- Application method: Foliar spray
- Always follow the crop, dose and timing given on the product label and leaflet.
Safety & Precautions
- Read the label and leaflet carefully before use, and follow the crop, dose and timing given there.
- Wear protective clothing, gloves, face mask and goggles while handling, mixing and applying.

- Observe the waiting period between the last application and harvest stated on the label.
- In case of poisoning or suspected poisoning, stop work, move to fresh air, get medical help immediately and show the label or leaflet to the doctor.
