Product Details
Oxyfen is a herbicide containing Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC. A contact herbicide that blocks an enzyme in the chlorophyll synthesis pathway, causing light-dependent cell membrane damage in germinating or young weed seedlings; used pre- and early post-emergence across several field and plantation crops.
Technical Details
- Composition: Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC
- Formulation: Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC)
- Mode of action: PPO (protoporphyrinogen oxidase) inhibitor; diphenyl ether
Features & Benefits
- Controls a broad range of annual broadleaf weeds and some grasses.
- Fast contact action under sunlight.
- Usable across multiple crop types (field, bulb and plantation crops).
- Short residual window limits soil carryover.
Dosage & Application
- Recommended crops: Groundnut, Onion, Paddy (transplanted), Potato, Tea
- Target weeds: Annual broadleaf weeds and some grasses
- Application method: Pre-emergence or early post-emergence (targeted/directed) spray; requires light for activity, so best applied to moist soil/young weed foliage
- Always follow the crop, dose and timing given on the product label and leaflet.
Safety & Precautions
- Contact herbicide - direct spray contact with crop foliage can cause localised scorch, so timing and directed application matter.
- Needs sunlight to activate; performance can be reduced under heavy cloud cover immediately after application.
- Read the label and leaflet carefully before use, and follow the crop, dose and timing given there.
- Wear protective clothing, gloves, face mask and goggles while handling, mixing and applying.
- Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew while handling. Wash hands, face and exposed skin with soap and water after use.
- Do not spray against the wind or in strong wind. Avoid drift onto people, animals, other crops and water sources.
- Use a separate sprayer for herbicides, or clean the sprayer thoroughly after use.
- Do not contaminate ponds, wells, canals or other water sources with the product, its washings or empty containers.
- Keep out of reach of children and animals. Store in the original, tightly closed container in a cool, dry, locked place, away from food, feed and fertilizers.
- Do not reuse empty containers. Dispose of them safely as directed on the label.
- Observe the waiting period between the last application and harvest stated on the label.
- In case of poisoning or suspected poisoning, stop work, move to fresh air, get medical help immediately and show the label or leaflet to the doctor.
